‚contemporary archaeology‘

Imagine time travellers from the future stranded in our present, randomly picking up things from the street and looking at it. What would they find?

‚contemporary archaeology‘ is the body of work I created during a workshop with Mark Power and VOID in Athens. In the evenings, I walked the streets and picked up discarded food and containers to photograph them with available light under the streetlamps.  Against the backdrop of black cardboard I arranged my ‚treasures‘ and was mesmerised by the beauty of trash. It was only later that I realised how these images reminded me of my favourite paintings from Dutch old masters.
